Five Tiers and The Tower of Babel for Alto and Baritone Saxophone (2023) is an ancient story told in reverse. With a structure inspired by Elliott Carter’s Eight Etudes and a Fantasy, each movement explores a distinct textural idea related to the others by a shared harmonic framework. Each movement is a severed section of a prelapsarian whole slowly building towards a new sense of united determination, a new Tower of Babel.
